When children encounter new experiences, their aspirations grow. We broaden horizons by nurturing interests and expanding understanding of the world. We celebrate that learning is broad, exciting and limitless, encouraging every child to be ambitious in all they do.
At Hotwells, we value individuality and creativity. Working with our local community, we celebrate the Arts and encourage imagination and creative thinking across all areas of learning, supporting children to problem-solve in innovative ways.
We nurture pride and respect in our children for themselves, their school and others. As a small, welcoming and community-minded school, we value strong relationships and intergenerational links within the Hotwells community.
We help children understand and appreciate the wider world beyond their community. At Hotwells, we celebrate the ‘big wide world in our small school’, valuing diversity, inclusivity and respect for others.
I want to extend a warm welcome to you from everyone at Hotwells Primary School. I hope you enjoy exploring our website and getting to know our school. We are a school that is led with warmth and kindness and we firmly believe that having strong relationships with our children and families leads to the best outcomes for all.
We love to meet new families so please do get in touch if you'd like to find out more.

Earlier this week, our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children enjoyed a brilliant day at Sand Bay. From building sandcastles and digging in the sand to splashing in the water and hunting for shells, the children had a wonderful time exploring and playing together. An ice cream before heading home was the perfect way to end the trip! It was lovely to see so much curiosity, creativity and teamwork throughout the day. We may have returned a little sandy and soggy, but we also came back with lots of happy memories! #HotwellsPrimarySchool #SmallButMighty #LearningBeyondTheClassroom #OutdoorLearning #MakingMemories
With glorious sunshine overhead, our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable day full of adventure, challenge and fun at Ashton Court Tree Tops earlier this week. From climbing, balancing and swinging high among the trees, they showed incredible courage as they took on the high ropes course. We were so proud of the way the children encouraged one another throughout the day, celebrated each other's successes and stepped outside their comfort zones with determination and resilience. Their positive attitudes, teamwork and perseverance were a real credit to Hotwells Primary School. Well done, Year 3 and Year 4! #SmallButMighty #HotwellsPrimarySchool #WeAreLocalCitizens #HighRopesAdventure #AshtonCourt
At Hotwells Primary School, we are proud to be a welcoming, inclusive and diverse school community where every child is known, valued and encouraged to thrive. Although we are based in the heart of Hotwells, our children come from across Bristol and families choose our school for our strong sense of community, nurturing approach and commitment to helping every child succeed. As a Small but Mighty school, we offer a nurturing environment, strong relationships and a genuine sense of belonging. Children benefit from a broad and ambitious curriculum, excellent outdoor spaces and a wide range of enriching experiences. We would love to welcome you for a visit and show you what makes Hotwells such a special place to learn and grow.
Last week, our budding little artists got stuck into Art Week with paint, pencils, creativity and plenty of imagination. The school was buzzing with colour, laughter and some truly fantastic artwork as children explored new techniques and let their creativity shine. A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers who shared their time, talents and enthusiasm throughout the week. You helped make it such a special experience for the children, and we are incredibly grateful! It was a brilliant way to kick off the new term, with our values of Creativity and Ambition shining through in every masterpiece, sketch and splash of paint. #WeAreCreative #WeAreAmbitious #HotwellsPrimarySchool #PrimarySchoolArt
What a fantastic day we had at Tyntesfield with our whole school family! From exploring the beautiful gardens and woodland trails to discovering the history of the house, the children showed so much curiosity, kindness and enthusiasm throughout the day. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying being together, supporting one another and making special memories. A huge thank you to @tyntesfieldnt for having us, and to the staff, volunteers and helpers who made the trip possible. And a second lot of photos because one post simply isn't enough! We had so many wonderful moments from our whole school trip to Tyntesfield that we just had to share more. Thank you again to everyone who helped make such a memorable trip to @tyntesfieldnt possible! #HotwellsPrimarySchool #Tyntesfield #NationalTrust #SchoolTrip #SmallButMighty
Order in Court! Last week, Year 5 took part in a fantastic mock trial experience at Bristol Civic and Family Justice Centre. Although the defence team worked hard to support the defendant, the prosecution's witnesses presented some very convincing evidence! In the end, the judge had the final say... We are so proud of the maturity, enthusiasm and professionalism shown by every pupil involved. A future full of barristers, judges and public speakers, perhaps? #HotwellsPrimarySchool #LearningBeyondTheClassroom #WeAreAmbitious #WeAreLocalCitizens #SmallButMighty
After "dancing the sun up" on Brandon Hill, a group of Morris dancers brought the celebration to Hotwells with a lively performance for the whole school. Reception and Year 1 then stepped up for their own workshop and didn't miss a beat! What a joyful start to May! #Hotwells #MayDay #MorrisDancing #SmallButMighty #WeAreLocalCitizens
Earlier this term, our Reception class went on a fantastic trip to the @bristolaquarium The children loved exploring the different marine habitats, spotting all sorts of fascinating sea creatures and learning more about life under the sea. A fab day full of curiosity, excitement and discovery! #WeAreLocalCitizens #ReceptionClass #BristolAquarium #HotwellsPrimarySchool #SmallButMighty
Science Week continues at Hotwells Primary... and it's full steam ahead! Earlier this week, we designed and built sailboats, then tested them to see whose boat could whizz across the water the fastest. Safe to say there were some very serious young boat engineers in the making! #WeAreCreative #WeAreAmbitious #WeAreScientists #BritishScienceWeek #HotwellsPrimarySchool
